WS4 FCBD Style with Baskets

Workshop description:
All of us herald from a time and culture where baskets were part of our everyday life.  This is one of the reasons why dancing with baskets has such universal audience appeal.  In this workshop, you will learn how to modify FCBD moves so that the prop accentuates the vocabulary without taking the focus away from the strength and beauty of the dance.  You will learn:

– the different basket holds (right shoulder, two hand, balance)

– how to incorporate the basket into moves with very little adaptation

– a selection of fast and slow moves that require more extensive modification.

Although Lisa will be teaching the Basket Dialect she helped create with Dawn Ruckert that was featured in the 2017 ATS with Props DVD, you are encouraged to take all that you learn and adapt it for your troupe!  By the end of the workshop you will be ready to integrate this iconic prop into your dance.

Guidelines to Roma Tribal Meeting 2023 Hybrid Workshops

 The workshops will take place at San Lo’ dance studio with a limited number of participants.
 The workshops will be simultaneously streamed via Zoom with unlimited places.

Make sure that you register correctly, choosing between IN-PERSON or ONLINE attendance.

If you choose IN-PERSON attendance, please notice: to access the San Lo’ dance studio you have to take off your shoes at the entrance. Wearing a mask is recommended.

If you choose to participate ONLINE, a few days before the Festival you will receive by email (make sure you register with a correct email) a link to access the Zoom meeting. In the case you can’t join the live session, a recording will be available until the end of June.

If you book a spot IN-PERSON but for some reason you can’t attend, it’s possible to participate online or ask the recording. No refunds.

Participating to a workshop ONLINE means that you agree with your image being shared with the teacher and the other participants.

In the case of cancellation of the IN-PERSON meeting due to force majeure, the workshops will take place ONLINE.
